The Civil Services Examination
The Indian Civil Service Examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission Delhi every year. The actual examination is divided into two stages:
- The Preliminary Examination
- The Main Examination and Interview
The Preliminary Examination is a qualifying examination for main examination, which is objective in nature. It consists of two papers: first paper which consist general studies and the second consist aptitude test. Both papers have one fourth (1/4) negative marking for every wrong answer.
CIVIL SERVICES IAS EXAM AND IFS (PRE) EXAM 2016 NOTIFICATION
The Main Examination further divided into written and interview parts. The written examination consists total nine papers. These include a paper on English (only for qualifying), a paper on any one Indian Language (only for qualifying), an essay paper, four general knowledge paper, and two papers on any one optional subject chosen by the candidate appearing for the examination.
After clearing these two stages a candidate has a write to appear for the interview. During the interview the candidate will face questions on topics of general awareness. However, the main objective of the interview is to gauge the personality of the candidate and adjudge whether he or she is suitable for the responsibility that the job entails.
Eligibility
Minimum qualification for this examination is graduation in any discipline from any recognized university. SEE NOTIFICATION
Age and Attempts
Minimum 21 years and maximum 32 years (between 1st August to 31st July for that year) age is required for applying CSA. The relaxation in age is given for S.C./S.T./Women candidate. There are 6 attempts for general and 8 attempts for OBC candidate, no limit for S.C. /S.T. candidates. SEE NOTIFICATION
