Introduction
An unforeseen boom in the ad and fashion industry has created a huge and continual demand for fresh models. The twentieth century has seen modeling rise to prominence and develop into a thriving industry. Ramp models had to walk well and master their pivots and turns. They needed make-up skills as they often required doing their own hair and make-up. Modeling assures glamour and good pay packages at the same time. Earlier fashion industry was one of the few industries where women earned more than men but nowadays this career has become promising for men too. Professional Courses
Modeling demands no specific academic qualifications. As a model, you have to learn on the job as there is no particular training available in this field. There are very few training schools opened by former models in cities like Mumbai and Delhi. These schools train you in grooming, developing personality, make up tips, related techniques and help spruce up one’s self confidence. Apart from these courses, you need good links in the modeling world to get the right break to get an entry into this glamorous domain.
Eligibility
Modeling demands no specific academic and professional qualifications it wants some qualities, physic and personality. One must posses the beauty and charm of a model. Try to take part in fashion shows and theatrical productions both at the school and the college level. Exposure to photo shoots from an early age will give you confidence to do the same once you take up modelling as your preferred career in life. There is no definite qualification or age limit or any type of course required to take up modelling as a profession. A photographic model would need to be photogenic as well as have the right height and vital statistics. Girls aspiring to be fashion models should ideally be above 5′ 7″ or 5′ 8″ in height and the perfect 10 in vital statistics with good hair and skin, expressive eyes, even teeth with a complete lack of self-consciousness. Boys should be at least 5′ 10″ tall , with clear complexion, straight carriage, well-proportioned physique , even teeth and good hair. Attitude, self-confidence, determination and stamina are very important. As the emphasis moved away from formal poses, a model had to be able to move well and be spontaneous in front of the camera.

Modeling or runway modeling is a job where models showcase outfits by various designers. Modeling can also be for print or ad campaigns. Each job can be your last so try and learn from each job and it can be educational, lucrative, and confidence building too. A model could get rich quick and stay around for a comparatively long time by selecting the right kind of work, spacing out ad campaigns to avoid overexposure. Changing your look in terms of hairdo, and style lf make-up can give you a new lease all over again. Modeling assures glamour and good pay packages at the same time. Pay/Earning
Earning of a model usually depends upon the organisers and as to how esteemed the fashion show is. Models in India are usually paid for an entire campaign or for the duration of the contract, except for fashion shows and catalogues where they are paid on day-to-day basis. A low budget fashion shows pays about Rs 15,000 to Rs.300, 00 per show. An established model can expect around Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000 per fashion show. A top model’s fee for a show could be upward of Rs 40,000 or lakhs of rupees for an ad campaign. A model’s fees depend upon his / her ratings, experience and the state of the fashion / advertising business. Reputed magazines pay around Rs.15, 000 to Rs. 25,000. Print ads pay according to the number of photographs being printed and their rates.
