Ocean Engineering

Ocean engineering is related to study of ocean environment so ocean engineering involves the study of the sea and ocean environments on how the sea and ocean water affect vessels and watercraft. Ocean engineers study how long materials take to wear out in sea water, what materials are suitable for use in sea equipment and their costs. Besides the salty water, ocean engineers also have to be concerned about the effect of sand, sea life and waves on human aspirations. In this branch of engineering Ocean Science, teaches as an important subject.

Courses

  • Sc./B.Tech – 4-year graduate course in ocean engineering.
  • Sc/M.Tech -2-year postg raduate course in ocean engineering.
  • Phil/Ph.D.- Doctoral degrees in the field of ocean engineering.

Qualification

10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Maths is a minimum qualification for B.Sc./B.Tech course. For M.Sc./M.Tech, B.Sc./B.Tech and for Ph.D. M.Sc./M.Tech is minimum qualification required. The knowledge of geography and environment studies is helpful for candidates.

Career Objects

Ocean engineers can work both private and public sectors. Oceanographers can works as Biological oceanographers, Chemical oceanographers, Geological oceanographers, Marine geologists, Physical oceanographers. Oceanographers work on the sea to collect data and record scientific evidence.

Pay/Salaries

Salary is no matter in this field. Ocean Engineers can start their earning between Rs. 40,000 to Rs. 80, 000 per month. It increases with experience and education. At senior label it is about to Rs. 1, 50,000 per month or more.
